1. The working principle of wet wood log biomass pellet processing equipment
Pelletizing equipment is the core of pellet processing. It mechanically compresses dried wood chips into dense cylindrical pellets.
Core equipment: Ring die pellet machine (mainstream).
Ring die pellet machine principle:
Dried wood chips enter the pelletizing chamber through a feeder and are pushed between the ring die and the press rollers by a stirring paddle.
The ring die (with evenly distributed holes in the inner wall, 6-12 mm in diameter) is stationary, while the press rollers (two to three with a patterned surface) rotate at high speed, applying pressure (up to 50-100 MPa) to the wood chips.
Under high pressure, the wood fibers undergo plastic deformation and hydrogen bonding (no adhesive is required; the wood's own lignin softens under the heat generated by the extrusion friction, acting as a natural adhesive). The wood chips are then extruded through the die holes to form continuous cylindrical strips.
The strips are cut by a cutter on the outside of the ring die, forming pellets 20-50 mm in length.

(1) Broad spectrum processing capability: Processable raw materials include wood (logs, wood chips, sawdust), crops (straw, rice husks, corn cobs), herbs (reeds, forage grass), etc. By adjusting the crushing and pulverizing parameters, it can adapt to raw materials of different hardness and fiber content (for example, hardwood requires stronger crushing capacity, and straw needs to control the pulverization particle size to prevent agglomeration).
(2) Clear requirements for raw material pretreatment: The raw material moisture content must be controlled at 8%-15% (too high will easily cause adhesion and mold clogging, too low will result in insufficient particle strength), and the particle size is usually required to be 1-3mm. 1. Outstanding Environmental Protection
Renewable Energy: The raw material is derived from wood processing residues, a biomass resource. Its carbon emissions after combustion are close to "carbon neutral" (the amount of CO₂ absorbed is essentially balanced by the amount of CO₂ released), aligning with the "dual carbon" policy and significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions compared to fossil fuels such as coal.
Low Pollutant Emissions: During combustion, sulfur and nitrogen content are extremely low (typically <0.05% sulfur and <0.5% nitrogen). The production of harmful gases such as SO₂ and NOₓ is far lower than that of coal, reducing acid rain and air pollution. Ash content is generally between 1% and 5%, far lower than coal (10%-30%). Subsequent ash disposal costs are low, and the ash can be reused as organic fertilizer.
2. High Energy Density and Easy Storage and Transportation
Significantly increased density: The natural bulk density of raw materials (such as sawdust) is only approximately 100-200 kg/m³. After pelletization, the density can reach 1100-1300 kg/m³, significantly increasing energy density (calorific value approximately 4200-4800 kcal/kg, close to that of medium-quality coal). At the same calorific value, transportation and storage costs are reduced by over 60%.
Stable Form: The pellets are cylindrical (6-10mm diameter, 10-30mm length), hard and resistant to breakage. They have good flowability and can be transported mechanically via pipes, conveyors, and other means. They are suitable for automated feeding systems (such as industrial boilers and biomass power generation units).
