1. The working principle of wet wood log biomass pellet processing equipment

Equipment for processing wet wood biomass pellets (i.e., pellet forming equipment for high-moisture wood feedstock) must address the molding difficulties caused by excessive moisture content. Its principles and characteristics differ significantly from those used for processing dry wood. The key to processing wet wood biomass pellets (typically with a moisture content exceeding 30%, and even reaching 50%-60%) is the synergistic effect of drying and mechanical compression to overcome the molding barrier caused by high moisture content, ultimately producing dense pellets.

2. Characteristics of wet wood log biomass pellet processing equipment

(1) Strengthen pretreatment capacity to adapt to high-moisture raw materials

Equipped with high-efficiency crushing equipment (such as knife crushers and hammer crushers), wet wood (including branches, bark, wet sawdust, etc.) can be crushed into uniform fine particles to prevent large pieces of material from clogging the molding machine.

Use a drum dryer to directly reduce moisture in the pretreatment stage and reduce the subsequent molding pressure.

(2) Special design of the molding mechanism to improve anti-adhesion and wear resistance

The mold and pressure wheel are made of wear-resistant materials (such as high-chromium cast iron, carburized alloy steel), and the surface finish is improved to reduce the "sticking mold" phenomenon caused by the high viscosity of wet materials and extend the life of wearing parts.

The mold aperture is usually large (8-12mm) and the compression ratio (the ratio of mold length to aperture) is low (generally 3-5:1), which reduces the flow resistance of wet materials in the mold and avoids clogging. Some equipment uses "variable diameter molds" with a large aperture at the inlet and a small aperture at the outlet, gradually increasing the pressure to adapt to the plasticity characteristics of wet materials.

How to use the TONY pellet production line to make pellets from wet wood log?

The process mainly includes the following steps and equipment:

Wood pellets are solid fuels or industrial raw materials made from wood processing waste (such as sawdust, wood chips, scraps, etc.) through crushing, drying, compression molding and other processes. The following are the physical properties of wood pellets.

Usually cylindrical particles with a diameter of 6-12mm and a length of 20-50mm. The structure is dense and the bulk density can reach 600-800kg/m³ (much higher than the 100-200kg/m³ of raw wood chips), which greatly reduces storage and transportation space and reduces logistics costs. (2) Controllable moisture and strong stability. 

The moisture content of the finished pellets is usually controlled at 8%-15% (adjusted according to the purpose). The moisture content is low and uniform, avoiding the problem of mold and rot caused by moisture in the raw wood chips. The storage period can be extended to 6-12 months (under sealed conditions).
