1. The working principle of wet EFB biomass pellet processing equipment
The core of palm kernel processing equipment lies in its "pre-treatment - molding - cooling - packaging" process, which transforms raw materials such as palm shells and fibers into standardized pellets. The key principles revolve around adapting to the characteristics of the raw materials and ensuring pellet stability. During the pre-treatment stage, a crusher is used to grind the raw materials to 4-14mm, and a dryer then adjusts the moisture content to 10-15%, preparing the material for molding.
Molding is the core process. A vertical ring die pelletizer uses high pressure between the rollers and the ring die to extrude the material through the die holes. The natural lignin in the palm material acts as a binder. After extrusion, the pellets are cut by a cutter into 2-5cm lengths. In the cooling stage, a counter-current cooler reduces the temperature of the hot pellets (70-90°C) to room temperature, while simultaneously reducing moisture content to below 10% to prevent clumping and mold growth. Finally, an automatic weighing and packaging machine completes the process.
2. Characteristics of wet EFB biomass pellet processing equipment
Palm kernel processing equipment has distinct characteristics, being well-suited to the properties of palm kernel raw materials and highly efficient. Firstly, it offers strong adaptability to raw material processing. To address the hard shell and long fibers of palm kernels, the equipment uses a crusher to grind the raw material to 4-14mm, and then a dryer adjusts the moisture content to 10-15%, meeting the requirements for pelletizing. Secondly, it features high functional integration, often incorporating a "pre-treatment - pelletizing - cooling - packaging" system. The ring die pelletizer performs high-pressure pelletizing, and the cooling and packaging equipment seamlessly follows, simplifying the process and improving efficiency. Thirdly, it is environmentally friendly and durable. It relies primarily on the natural lignin binding in the raw material, reducing the need for additives; key components such as bearing steel and ring dies are highly wear-resistant, lowering maintenance costs and ensuring stable operation.
3. Application scenarios of wet EFB biomass pellet processing equipment
(1) Small and medium-sized industrial enterprises: including factories in industries such as food processing, textiles, chemicals, and building materials that require stable heat supply. The production processes of these enterprises (such as food drying, textile printing and dyeing heating, building materials maintenance, etc.) require continuous consumption of heat energy. Although the calorific value of wet EFB pellets (14-18MJ/kg) is lower than that of coal, its carbon emissions are only one-tenth of fossil fuels, and its sulfur and nitrogen emissions are extremely low, which meets the requirements of environmental protection policies. Enterprises can introduce equipment (or purchase pellets from surrounding processing points) and use pellets as boiler fuel to reduce dependence on natural gas and coal and control energy costs.
(2) Biomass energy-related places: including small and medium-sized biomass power plants, biomass heating stations, etc. Biomass power plants require fuel with "regular shape and stable moisture content" (bulk material transportation efficiency is low and combustion is unstable). Wet EFB processing equipment can process the purchased wet EFB raw materials into pellets. Some equipment is also equipped with a pre-drying device, which can reduce the moisture content of the raw materials to 10%-30%, meeting the power plant's requirements for fuel calorific value and combustion efficiency; biomass heating stations (serving industrial parks and township centralized heating) can directly use wet EFB pellets as a heat source to provide clean heating for surrounding users.

A.This process is mainly used to dry the palm dust from 40% to 10-15%.
