1. The working principle of wet bamboo biomass pellet processing equipment

The vertical ring die pellet machine is a key equipment for pressing bamboo into pellet fuel. Its working principle is as follows:   

(1) The dried bamboo powder is evenly transported to the "extrusion chamber" between the ring die and the pressing roller through the spiral feeder; 

(2) The motor drives the ring die to rotate at high speed (15-30r/min) through the reducer. The friction between the ring die and the pressing roller drives the pressing roller to rotate. At the same time, the hydraulic system applies pressure to the pressing roller, so that the bamboo powder in the extrusion chamber is subjected to a huge extrusion force; 

(3) The bamboo powder is forced into the forming hole of the ring die under high pressure. The bamboo powder in the forming hole generates high temperature (80-120℃, no additional heating is required, which is "friction heat") due to extrusion. The hemicellulose (one of the main components of bamboo) in the bamboo fiber will soften slightly and act as a "binder", so that the bamboo powder is solidified and formed in the forming hole; 

(4) The formed columnar particles are squeezed out from the outside of the ring die and cut into particles 3-5 times the hole diameter by the cutter (installed on the outside of the ring die, which can adjust the particle length). Finally, they are passed through a cooler (air cooling/ The pellets are cooled by water (to prevent moisture from returning to room temperature), and then pass through a screening machine to remove the fine particles. The qualified pellets enter the finished product warehouse.

2. Characteristics of wet bamboo biomass pellet processing equipment

(1) Pretreatment equipment: strong and adaptable, anti-clogging, easy to maintain

Pretreatment equipment (chippers, crushers) is the first step in "breaking the physical properties of bamboo". Its features are "wear resistance, particle size control, and anti-entanglement" to avoid subsequent equipment blocking or overload.

(2) Drying equipment: efficient dehydration, temperature control and anti-coking

The moisture content of wet bamboo is as high as 40%-60%. The drying equipment needs to balance between "rapid dehydration" and "avoiding bamboo powder coking". Its features are "sufficient heat exchange, precise temperature control, and clean exhaust gas".

(3) Molding equipment (ring die pellet machine): high pressure and wear resistance, self-adhesive molding

3. Application scenarios of wet bamboo biomass pellet processing equipment

(1) Biomass pellet fuel production

How to use the TONY pellet production line to make pellets from wet bamboo?

3.Bamboo Dust Drying Process:

A.This process is mainly used to dry the bamboo dust  from 40% to 10-15%.

Raw material advantages of the wet bamboo biomass pellet project:Stable raw material supply, low cost, and strong adaptability

As the core raw material of the project, bamboo's natural properties provide a "source guarantee" for the project, resolving the pain points of traditional biomass pellets (such as wood chip pellets) that rely on forests and have unstable supply.

1. Fast growth and high renewability

Bamboo is one of the fastest-growing plants in the world. Most species (such as moso and nan bamboo) can mature into a forest in 1-2 years and reach harvestable maturity in 5 years, while trees typically take 10-20 years to mature. Furthermore, bamboo does not need to be replanted after harvesting. New bamboo shoots naturally sprout from the underground stems (bamboo rhizomes), achieving "one-time planting, perpetual use." This shortens the raw material supply cycle and enhances sustainability, avoiding the risk of resource depletion. 

2. Wide Sources of Raw Materials and Controllable Costs

Diverse Supply Channels: In addition to targeted commercial bamboo forests, a large amount of recycled bamboo industry waste (such as bamboo board processing scraps, bamboo furniture offcuts, and discarded bamboo fences/scaffoldings) can be recycled. The procurement cost of this raw material is extremely low (in some areas, recycling is even free, requiring only transportation costs), and is 30%-50% lower than the cost of virgin wood (such as pine and fir).

Strong Regional Adaptability: Projects can be located nearby, reducing the raw material transportation radius (typically ≤ 50 kilometers), further reducing transportation costs (far lower than the cost of transporting wood across regions).

3. Wet Bamboo Properties Suitable for Processing Requirements

Bamboo fiber has a high density (approximately 0.6-0.8g/cm³) and strong toughness. Even with a high moisture content (30%-50%), it maintains good formability after crushing and drying. The pelletized pellets are hard (crushing strength ≥ 95%) and are resistant to moisture absorption, making them superior to herbaceous biomass materials such as straw and rice husks, which tend to loosen and become moldy due to moisture absorption, resulting in more stable product quality.

The core value of bamboo biomass pellets lies in their excellent energy supply. Their energy characteristics are reflected in the following aspects:

1. High calorific value and high combustion efficiency

Bamboo fibers have a high density (especially mature bamboo species such as moso bamboo and nanmu bamboo). After compression into pellets, the bulk density can reach 1.1-1.3g/cm³. The low calorific value is generally 18-20MJ/kg (approximately 4300-4800 kcal/kg), approaching that of medium-grade bituminous coal (approximately 20-25MJ/kg) and far exceeding straw pellets (14-16MJ/kg) and wood chip pellets (16-18MJ/kg). The pellets also have a dense structure, allowing for good air circulation during combustion, resulting in a heat conversion rate exceeding 85% and no noticeable black smoke. This avoids the problem of "strong fire but low thermal efficiency" associated with burning loose bamboo. 

2. Low combustion residue and high ash utilization rate. 

Bamboo has an extremely low ash content (typically only 0.5%-1.5%), far lower than coal (10%-30%) and straw (5%-8%). The resulting ash is small and rich in potassium, silicon, and other elements. It can be directly used as potash fertilizer for farmland or landscaping fertilizer, achieving a "energy-residue-agriculture" cycle and reducing solid waste disposal costs.
