1.The working principle of dried wood chips biomass pellet processing equipment

The core principle of the dry wood chip processing biomass pellet equipment is to transform loose, low-density dry wood chips into high-density, easy-to-store and transport columnar pellets through the process of "pretreatment → extrusion molding → cooling and shaping". Its core technology revolves around "physical extrusion shaping" and "adaptation of raw material characteristics". The core system includes the feeding system, pretreatment system, extrusion molding system, transmission system, and cooling system, and each part works together to achieve the "from wood chip to pellet" transformation.

Raw Material Advantages of Dry Wood Chips for Biomass Pellets

Dry wood chips, as the core raw material for this project, offer the advantages of a wide range of sources, low cost, and easy storage. This fundamentally addresses the pain points of biomass projects, often associated with raw material shortages and price fluctuations:

1.Wide-ranging and stable raw material sources

Major sources include: wood processing plant scraps (such as sawdust and wood chips), forestry logging residues (such as branches and trunk segments), fruit tree pruning branches (such as waste branches from apple and pear orchards), and waste from wood-based panel manufacturers. In regions with abundant timber resources (such as the forested areas of Northeast China, Southwest China, and East China), the raw material collection radius can typically be controlled within 50 kilometers, resulting in low transportation costs and year-round supply with no significant seasonal fluctuations (dry wood chips with a moisture content of ≤15% can be stored for long periods).

2.Low raw material cost, reducing production costs

The purchase price of dry wood chips is significantly lower than that of raw materials such as straw and rice husks. Some wood processing plants even provide them free of charge (only the transportation costs are covered) to process the waste. This offers significant profit potential. 

3.Simple raw material pretreatment, requiring no additional investment.

Dry wood chips are inherently low in moisture and easy to crush (typically 10%-15% moisture content, requiring no additional drying). They are 5-10mm thick, and can be crushed into 3-5mm wood powder using a standard hammer mill. Compared to straw, which requires prior sun drying and impurity removal, pretreatment equipment and energy costs are reduced by 30%-40%.

Biomass pellets processed from wood chips offer the following advantages:

2.Low CO2 Emissions:

Pine wood pellets have a calorific value of 4200-5000 kcal/kg, making them one of the highest calorific biomass fuels.

4.Low Ash Content:

Pine wood pellets have a low ash content, typically 1-3. Compared to coal, this ash content leaves very little ash and residual ash. This low ash content significantly increases the fuel's utilization rate, saving fuel.

5.Environmental Advantages:

The main components of the combustible gases released after pyrolysis of pine wood pellets are H2, CH4, CmHn, and CO. Emissions of SO2, CO, and NO after full combustion are negligible. Therefore, pine wood pellets offer significant environmental advantages compared to coal. 

6.Economical:

The utilization rate and unit price of pine wood pellet fuel are high. Compared with fuel oil, gas, electricity and other energy sources, pine wood pellet fuel is a relatively cost-effective energy source. It can generally save 50% compared with fuel oil and gas, and 80% compared with electricity. It is 10% cheaper than anthracite and about 20-30% more expensive than low-quality polluting coal.
