1. The working principle of  wet straw biomass pellet processing equipment

Wet straw biomass pellet processing equipment converts wet straw (such as corn straw and wheat straw) into high-density, regularly shaped biomass pellet fuel through a series of physical processes. This process relies on mechanical extrusion and the natural bonding of lignin, eliminating the need for additional adhesives. The wet straw biomass pellet processing process can be summarized as follows: raw material pretreatment (crushing, pulverization, drying) → extrusion molding → post-processing. Because the raw material is "wet straw" (usually with a moisture content of 10%-15%), deep drying is required. Instead, the process focuses on densifying the material through mechanical forces and utilizing the heat generated during processing to activate the binding properties of lignin, ultimately forming stable pellets.

2. Characteristics of  wet straw biomass pellet processing equipment

Pelletizing is the core process, and the equipment design revolves around "utilizing the natural bonding of lignin to ensure pellet density":

(1) Ring pelletizer: thick-walled ring die + large-diameter pressure roller. The ring die is made of double-layer wear-resistant alloy steel (wall thickness 15-20mm, ordinary ring die wall thickness 8-12mm), with high die hole finish (Ra≤1.6μm), which can withstand the severe friction of coarse fibers and has a service life of 300-500 hours (ordinary ring die is only 150-200 hours); the pressure roller diameter is increased to 180-220mm (ordinary pressure roller is 120-150mm), with a larger contact area and more uniform extrusion force, avoiding local overload and ring die cracking.

(2) Adhesive-free design, relying on frictional heat generation:the equipment precisely controls the gap between the roller and the ring die (0.1-0.3mm) and the rotation speed (200-300r/min), generating a high temperature of 60-90°C in the die hole, which is just enough to soften the lignin (lignin softening point is 50-80°C). This eliminates the need for artificial adhesives such as starch and resin, reducing costs and avoiding the generation of harmful gases (such as formaldehyde) during combustion.

3.Drying Process:

1. Calorific Value (Energy Density)

The calorific value of straw pellets typically ranges from 15-19 MJ/kg (megajoules per kilogram), with the specific value affected by the type of raw material, moisture content, and processing method.

Higher Calorific Value: Including the latent heat of water evaporation, approximately 18-20 MJ/kg.

Lower Calorific Value: Excluding the energy of water evaporation, approximately 15-17 MJ/kg.

Pelletization significantly increases the calorific value of straw, bringing it close to that of high-quality coal (approximately 20-25 MJ/kg).

2. Combustion Characteristics

Ignition Point: Approximately 250-300°C, lower than that of raw straw (uncompressed).

Combustion Efficiency: After pelletization, combustion efficiency can reach over 85%, with low residual ash content (typically less than 10%). Volatile Matter Content: Approximately 60-75%. Combustion easily releases combustible gases, promoting complete combustion.

3. Energy Density, Storage, and Transportation

Pelletization increases volumetric energy density by 3-5 times, facilitating storage, transportation, and large-scale applications (such as boiler fuel).

Moisture Control: The moisture content after processing is typically less than 10%, significantly reducing transportation costs and the risk of mold.

4. Renewable Energy Properties

Carbon Neutral: The CO₂ released during combustion is essentially balanced by the CO₂ absorbed during plant growth, meeting low-carbon and environmental requirements.

Sustainable Raw Materials: Utilizing agricultural waste (such as corn stalks and rice straw) as raw materials reduces incineration pollution and enables resource recycling.
