1. The working principle of dried hay/grass/alfalfa biomass pellet processing equipment
Hay pellet processing equipment uses hay as raw material. First, it processes the hay into sawdust-like material that meets pelleting requirements through crushing and pulverizing equipment. Then, the pulverized material is dried and extruded into pellets using a biomass pellet mill. Finally, after cooling and packaging, the finished pellets are obtained. The entire process transforms waste hay into usable pellet fuel, achieving resource recycling and reuse.

After being compressed, hay biomass pellets possess numerous superior performance characteristics. Physically, the pellets are uniform in size and have a high density (typically 1.1-1.3 g/cm³), resulting in a significantly reduced volume. Compared to loose hay, they occupy only 1/10 to 1/15 of the original storage space, and are less prone to moisture absorption and mold growth, facilitating long-term storage and long-distance transportation, thus reducing warehousing and logistics costs.
Regarding combustion efficiency, compression molding ensures more complete and stable combustion of hay, significantly improving thermal efficiency to over 80%, far exceeding the 30%-40% of loose hay burning. Furthermore, combustion produces no noticeable smoke or odor, and the flame is stable and easy to control. In addition, its ash content is low (typically below 5%), leaving minimal ash residue after combustion. This ash residue is rich in potassium and phosphorus, making it suitable for use as organic fertilizer in fields, further promoting resource recycling.
Besides the energy sector, hay biomass pellets also have important applications in animal husbandry. They can be used as a base raw material for high-quality feed pellets. After processing, the nutrients in hay can be retained. Pelleted feed is easy to feed, reduces waste, and can be combined with other nutrients according to the needs of livestock and poultry to improve feeding efficiency.
