1. The working principle of dried hay/grass/alfalfa biomass pellet processing equipment

(1) Raw Material Pretreatment: Hay/Grass/Alfalfa powder is crushed to a particle size of 3-5mm to remove impurities and prevent clogging or loosening.

(2)Extrusion Molding: After the material enters the pelleting chamber, it is pressed into the ring die hole by pressure rollers, forming pellets through friction against the inner wall of the die.

(3)Pellet Shaping: After cooling and sieving, the extruded pellets meet the required hardness and density (approximately 0.8-1.3 t/m³).

Advantages of using dried hay/grass/alfalfa for biomass pelleting:

1. No core drying process required:

Dried hay/grass/alfalfa already has a moisture content of 10%-15%, meeting the suitable pelleting standard. This eliminates the need for the drying process, which accounts for over 30% of energy consumption in wet hay processing, significantly reducing energy costs such as water, electricity, and coal.

2. Higher raw material stability: 

Dried hay/grass/alfalfa is less prone to mold and rot, has a long storage period (6-12 months under ventilated conditions), and allows for flexible inventory management, avoiding losses due to short-term spoilage of wet hay.

3. Strong compatibility and easy formulation:

In addition to dried hay/grass/alfalfa, it can be mixed with other hay-based raw materials such as dried corn stalks and dried wheat straw. By adjusting the proportions, the pellet calorific value can be optimized (typically stable at 15-17 MJ/kg), adapting to different customer needs.

1. High Nutritional Value (as Forage Pellets)

When alfalfa and other grasses are processed into forage pellets, their nutritional value is significantly higher than that of ordinary straw. Forage pellets produced primarily from materials such as tamarisk and straw have a much higher protein content than ordinary straw, making them high-quality feed. This makes forage pellets popular in animal husbandry and can promote the development of the livestock industry.

2. High Calorific Value (as Fuel Pellets)

Biomass fuel pellets processed from alfalfa and other grasses are characterized by their high calorific value. Furthermore, the calorific value of agricultural raw material pellet fuel is generally around 3000-4200 kcal/kg, while the calorific value of forestry raw material pellet fuel is generally higher, around 4200-5000 kcal/kg.
