1. The working principle of wet hay/grass/alfalfa biomass pellet processing equipment

(1) Extrusion molding: The pre-treated material enters the core components of the pelletizer - the ring die and the roller group. The ring die is a ring-shaped metal mold with uniform small holes (usually 6-12mm in diameter). The roller group rotates at high speed inside the ring die, forcing the material into the small holes of the ring die. The material is subjected to high temperature (heat generated by extrusion friction) and high pressure in the small holes, and the cellulose, hemicellulose and other components inside are slightly softened to form a compact column. 

(2) Cutting and cooling: After the column is extruded from the other side of the ring die, it is cut into pellets of a set length (usually 3-10mm) by a cutter. The temperature of the pellets just extruded is relatively high (about 70-90℃) and needs to be cooled to room temperature by a cooler (mostly countercurrent type) to further reduce the moisture content and prevent the pellets from mold.

2. Characteristics of wet hay/grass/alfalfa biomass pellet processing equipment

The core component of biomass pelleting from wet hay/grass/alfalfa is the ring die pellet mill, optimized for wet materials:

(1) Enhanced wear resistance of the ring die/pressure roller: Made of high-chromium alloy with a hardened surface, resisting wear from residual impurities (such as soil) in the wet material and extending its service life;

(2) Anti-clogging feeding structure: The feed inlet is equipped with a stirring and pushing device to prevent the wet material from arching and accumulating at the inlet;

(3) Adaptable extrusion parameters: The ring die diameter is mostly 6-12mm, and the pressure roller pressure is adjustable (usually 50-100MPa), ensuring that the semi-wet material is fully compacted and formed in the die hole.

3. Application scenarios of wet hay/grass/alfalfa biomass pellet processing equipment

(1) Application scenario: A processing workshop is built in or around the wet hay/grass/alfalfa base. The harvested wet hay/grass/alfalfa is directly fed into the equipment, and after drying and pelleting, it is converted into stable pellets (feed or fuel). This avoids waste of raw materials and reduces subsequent transportation costs. 

(2) Reasons for suitability: The wet hay/grass/alfalfa harvested from large-scale planting bases usually has a high moisture content when fresh. If not processed in time, it may become moldy and heat up within 2-3 days. Moreover, the weight loss will occur during transportation due to moisture evaporation.

3.Hay/Grass/Alfalfa Dust Storage Process:

A. This process is mainly used to storage the hay/grass/alfalfa dust that comes out of the hammer mill.It is hydraulic galvanized storage silo which is more stable and hay/grass/alfalfa dust in it is not easy to be blocked. 

B.TONY Brand Large Hydraulic Storage Silo to storage the hay/grass/alfalfa dust that comes out of  the hammer mill.This process can be optional by customer.If customer do not chose the storage bin,he can storage the sawdust on the ground directly which may need some labour.

4.Drying Process: 

A.This process is mainly used to dry the hay/grass/alfalfa dust from 30-35% to 10-15%.  

B.Capacity: 18-20 tons/hour.

C.TONY use  2 sets of 3*24m rotary drum dryer for this process,TONY hot stove is made of firebrick pan, shell with H steel plate as the frame.   There are 3 layers of fire blocking device inside, which can effectively prevent the fire from entering the tumble dryer.Customers can choose to use waste wood, biomass pellets, natural gas, etc. as fuel for the hot air furnace

TONY dryer use spiral tube material, and is not easy to deform.Unlike other manufacturers with iron plate splicing welding, very easy to deformation.
