1. The working principle of wet hay/grass/alfalfa biomass pellet processing equipment

The pellet mill's main unit is the core equipment, operating based on the compression mechanism between rollers and a die. When material is fed into the pellet mill, an electric motor drives the main shaft through a gearbox or reducer, which in turn rotates the rollers. As the rollers rotate, they squeeze the material into the pores of the die. Under the influence of high temperature and pressure, the lignin in the sawdust softens, causing the cellulose molecules to dislocate, deform, and expand, allowing adjacent biomass particles to mesh with each other, automatically forming the pellets without any adhesive.

2. Characteristics of wet hay/grass/alfalfa biomass pellet processing equipment

(1) Efficient Drying: Wet grass has a high moisture content and typically requires a drying process to reduce it to within 10-15%. Efficient drying equipment ensures that wet grass reaches the appropriate moisture content quickly, improving the subsequent pelletizing process.

(2) Durability: In wet grass pellet machines, the die and rollers are consumable parts, so the processing equipment must be durable and have a long service life. Users should pay attention to maintenance. The highly wear-resistant die and rollers used by our company have a significantly longer service life and output than standard pellet machines.

3. Application scenarios of wet hay/grass/alfalfa biomass pellet processing equipment

Wet grass pellet processing equipment is mainly used in three scenarios: large-scale animal husbandry, agricultural waste resource utilization, and biomass energy production. The core function is to convert wet grass into pellets that are easy to use, store, or transport. 

(1) Feed preparation for large-scale animal husbandry In large-scale farms for herbivorous animals such as cattle, sheep, and rabbits, this equipment can directly process fresh grass and silage wet grass into pellet feed. 3.Drying Process: 

A.This process is mainly used to dry the hay/grass/alfalfa dust from 30-35% to 10-15%.

(1) More efficient storage and transportation, reducing losses and costs

After extrusion, wet grass pellets are only 1/3-1/5 the volume of loose wet grass, and the density is increased to 1.1-1.3g/cm³. On the one hand, they do not require a large amount of space for storage, and the surface of the pellets is compact, which can resist mold erosion, and the storage period is extended to 6-12 months, which is much better than the 1-2 weeks of fresh wet grass. On the other hand, the unit vehicle load capacity is increased during transportation, and the logistics cost is reduced by 40%-60%, avoiding the scattering loss of loose wet grass during transportation.

(2) Diverse uses, taking into account both feed and energy needs

Wet grass pellets can be flexibly adapted to different scenarios and have strong compatibility. When used as feed, the conditioning treatment (high temperature, humidification) during the pelleting process can soften the fiber and improve the digestion and absorption rate of herbivorous animals. The pellet shape is convenient for precise feeding, reducing feed waste by 15%-20%. When used as biomass fuel, its calorific value is stable at 14-18MJ/kg, it burns fully, and the emission of smoke and harmful gases is much lower than that of coal.
