Advantages of Hazelnut Husk Biomass Pellets in Combustion Performance

Compared to common biomass fuels such as straw and rice husks, hazelnut husk pellets offer combustion performance closer to medium-quality coal. Their core advantages are threefold:

1. Higher calorific value and energy density:

Hazelnut husk has a high lignin content (approximately 25%-30%), resulting in a lower heating value of 17-19 MJ/kg, significantly higher than straw pellets (13-15 MJ/kg) and close to medium-quality coal (18-22 MJ/kg). This allows for the release of more heat per unit weight, reducing fuel consumption.

2. Stable combustion and less slagging:

The dense pellet structure (density 1.1-1.3 g/cm³) ensures uniform and long-lasting flame during combustion. Furthermore, hazelnut husk has a low ash content (<3%), far lower than coal (10%-20%), reducing slagging after combustion and eliminating the need for frequent boiler cleaning, thus lowering equipment maintenance costs.

3. High thermal efficiency and less waste:

 The pellets burn completely, with a thermal efficiency of over 85%, which is higher than that of bulk hazelnut husk (burning efficiency of about 60%) or straw pellets (thermal efficiency of about 75%). This reduces heat loss and makes them especially suitable for scenarios with high requirements for heating stability (such as food drying and workshop heating).
