1. The working principle of wet hazelnut husk biomass pellet processing equipment

The core principle of processing wet hazelnut husks into biomass pellets is to first remove excess moisture through drying, and then extrude them under high pressure to transform the loose, wet material into high-density solid pellets. The key is to solve the problem of wet material being prone to sticking and difficult to form. For wet hazelnut husks (typically with a moisture content of 35%), the equipment needs to add a drying stage to ensure that the material meets the forming requirements.

2. Characteristics of wet hazelnut husk biomass pellet processing equipment

(1) Rotary drum dryer:It adopts a "multi-stage temperature control + counter-current heat exchange" structure. The front section uses hot air to quickly evaporate surface moisture, the middle section slowly dries internal moisture, and the rear section cools and shapes the material, ensuring the moisture content is accurately reduced to 10-15%. This prevents the wet hazelnut shells from becoming "dry on the outside and wet on the inside" or carbonizing due to high-temperature baking. Additionally, the inner wall of the dryer is coated with an anti-stick coating to reduce clumping of wet materials.

(2) Pellet machine: High pressure + anti-sticking die: The pellet machine pressure rollers feature a "textured surface" design to increase friction with the material and prevent slippage of wet materials (or conditioned materials). The ring die is made of wear-resistant alloy steel, and the inner wall of the die hole is nitrided (increasing hardness by more than 30%), extending service life and reducing equipment maintenance time. The pressure of the pressure rollers can be increased to ensure that coarse fiber materials are fully compressed and shaped.

Advantages of Hazelnut Husk Biomass Pellets in Combustion Performance

Compared to common biomass fuels such as straw and rice husks, hazelnut husk pellets offer combustion performance closer to medium-quality coal. Their core advantages are threefold

1. Higher calorific value and energy density:

Hazelnut husk has a high lignin content (approximately 25%-30%), resulting in a lower heating value of 17-19 MJ/kg, significantly higher than straw pellets (13-15 MJ/kg) and close to medium-quality coal (18-22 MJ/kg). This allows for the release of more heat per unit weight, reducing fuel consumption.

2. Stable combustion and less slagging:

The dense pellet structure (density 1.1-1.3 g/cm³) ensures uniform and long-lasting flame during combustion. Furthermore, hazelnut husk has a low ash content (<3%), far lower than coal (10%-20%), reducing slagging after combustion and eliminating the need for frequent boiler cleaning, thus lowering equipment maintenance costs.

3. High thermal efficiency and less waste:

The pellets burn completely, with a thermal efficiency of over 85%, which is higher than that of bulk hazelnut husk (burning efficiency of about 60%) or straw pellets (thermal efficiency of about 75%). This reduces heat loss and makes them especially suitable for scenarios with high requirements for heating stability (such as food drying and workshop heating).
