1. Drum Part:

The core component of a single-layer drum dryer is the drum. The drum is generally a slightly tilted cylinder. For example, when drying sand, this angle allows the sand to move smoothly from one end of the drum to the other.

The inner wall of the drum is usually equipped with a lifting plate. The lifting plate has various shapes, such as straight plate type and spiral type. Their main function is to continuously lift and drop the material during the rotation of the drum. For example, when drying grains, the lifting plate can lift the grains to a certain height and then drop them, so that the grains can be more fully exposed to the hot air, thereby improving the drying efficiency.

2. Heating System:

The heating system is the part that provides the heat required for drying. 

The hot air generated by the hot air furnace or burner enters the drum directly or indirectly. The high-temperature flame generated by the burner heats the air, and the hot air enters the drum under the action of the fan to heat the material. This method has a fast heating speed, but attention should be paid to the emission and safety of combustion exhaust gas.

3. Transmission System:

The transmission system is mainly used to drive the drum to rotate. It includes components such as motor, reducer, coupling and transmission gear. The motor provides power, and the reducer converts the high-speed rotation of the motor into low-speed and high-torque power suitable for the rotation of the drum, and transmits the power to the transmission gear on the drum through the coupling, so that the drum rotates at a certain speed. For example, the speed of the drum is generally 3-8 rpm. Such a speed can ensure that the material has enough time to contact with the hot air in the drum while moving forward smoothly.

4. Ventilation System:

The ventilation system includes air inlet and air outlet. The air inlet is used to introduce fresh hot air, and the air outlet is used to discharge humid exhaust gas. The fan is a key equipment of the ventilation system, which can control the flow and flow rate of hot air.

2. Generation And Flow Of Hot Air:

The hot air furnace generates high-temperature hot air, and the hot air enters the drum from one end of the drum under the action of the induced draft fan. The temperature and flow of hot air can be adjusted according to the characteristics of the material and the drying requirements.

3. Moisture Evaporation And Drying Process:

The hot air exchanges heat with the material in the drum, transfers heat to the material, and increases the temperature of the material. The moisture in the material gradually evaporates at high temperature to form water vapor.

With the continuous flow of hot air and the tumbling of the material, the moisture continues to evaporate, and the humidity of the material gradually decreases. When the humidity of the material reaches the predetermined drying requirement, the drying process is completed.
